6 Months Waiting for Referral

Today marks 6 months since we have been officially paperwork pregnant for Ethiopia. Of course, we began our financial and official commitment almost 2 1/2 years ago...for us, it was much easier being pregnant with Ashton! Both were/are experiences of a lifetime and truly blessings from God!

The time really is passing quickly. When we switched programs from Ukraine to Ethiopia, I was told that the wait time was about 5 months then it went to 7-9 months and currently we are expecting 9-11 months. This is the wait time until we receive our referral phone call stating that we have been matched with a child...then the really hard part begins - praying that we successfully make it through court on the first go around (you'll hear lots more about that in the months to come).

Please pray that the Ethiopian government will be very efficient and these children will be quickly (but reliably meaning no stolen babies for us) placed with forever families and travel to their new homeland.

Also, please pray that we are open to the child that God has picked out for us - even if she falls outside of our requested age range of 0-9 months. We are approved for 2 children under the age of 4 but we were told that this is a very rare placement because the Ethiopian government generally wants children to be 2 years apart in age and of course, we can't forget that Ashton just turned 4 in October (we can't forget him in the equation). We are also requesting twins, if available. Our agency says that receiving twins is like winning a lottery because generally at least one twin dies to malnourishment. For weeks now, God has really laid multiples on my heart....maybe He is preparing me for what is to come or maybe He wants to get my heart prepared for the next adoption (yes, we plan to adopt again), or maybe He just wants me to open my mind to possibilities. God can do anything...including giving us twins!
